About Us

Who We Are

Berkeley Journal of Social Sciences is a peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to publishing high-quality research in the social sciences and humanities. We provide a platform where scholars, researchers, and practitioners can share original work and contribute to meaningful scholarly conversation.

Our Mission

Our mission is to give readers access to the best research in the social sciences and humanities, and to create a forum where scholars and academics can collaborate to advance research in specific areas of the field.

We believe good research grows through dialogue. By bringing together voices from different institutions, regions, and disciplines, we aim to support work that is rigorous, original, and relevant to the communities it studies.

What We Publish

The journal is broad in scope and welcomes articles that cover:

  • Theoretical perspectives and frameworks
  • Empirical studies and data-driven research
  • Analytical investigations of social issues
  • Normative discussions of values, policy, and practice

We publish only original, results-oriented research addressing a wide range of issues facing communities.

Our Commitment to Quality

Every manuscript submitted to the journal undergoes a double-blind peer-review process. Reviewers do not know the identity of authors, and authors do not know the identity of reviewers. This helps ensure that each article is evaluated fairly, on its scholarly merit alone.

Our Editorial Team

The journal is guided by an Editor-in-Chief, an Associate Editor, and an international Editorial Advisory Board of scholars from universities across the United States, the United Kingdom, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and East Asia. Their expertise helps maintain the standards and direction of the journal.

Who We Welcome

We invite submissions from academics, researchers, and practitioners working in any area of the social sciences and humanities, whether you are an established scholar or an early-career researcher.
