Sindh Bans CNG and LPG Cylinders in School Vans

KARACHI: The Sindh government has imposed a strict ban on the use of CNG and LPG cylinders in school vans across the province, including Karachi.
Safety directives have been issued to private schools on the instructions of Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah.
The minister said that supplying petrol to school vans in an unsafe manner is also prohibited, warning that fueling vehicle engines through bottles and cans is dangerous.
He added that carrying students beyond a van’s approved seating capacity is banned, as is allowing students to travel standing on the vehicle’s footboard.
The education minister said a Sindh government fitness certificate has been made mandatory for school transport, and a copy of the certificate must be kept inside the vehicle at all times.
According to the Sindh Education Department, school administrations will face action for violating the safety instructions. Private educational institutions have been directed to ensure strict compliance with all safety regulations.
“There will be no compromise on the lives and safety of students,” the department said.
